Runnerbean terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Richard Allwood, trading as Runnerbean, 17 Dunnets, Woking, GU21 2NU ("we") for using the Runnerbean app. By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we use your data.
1. What Runnerbean does
Runnerbean reads photos of your supermarket receipts and uses them to generate data you can view, show price changes, compare shops and suggest items for your shopping list. You can share your list and receipts with your household.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 to use Runnerbean, and 18 (or have a parent's permission) to buy a subscription.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
- Give us a real email address so we can contact you about your account.
3. Households
Everyone in a household can see and change its receipts, spending, shopping list and settings. Only share your invite code with people you're happy to see this. If you leave a household, or delete your account, the household's data stays with its other members.
4. Free trial, free plan and Premium
- Free trial: every new household gets 30 days of Premium free. No payment details are needed for the trial.
- Free plan: after the trial, you keep the shared shopping list and can scan 3 receipts a calendar month.
- Premium: unlimited scans, full spending history, price history, Compare shops and more, for £2.99 a month or £22.99 a year. One subscription covers your whole household. Prices include VAT and may change. If a price changes, we'll tell you before your subscription renews at the new price.
- Paying and cancelling: subscriptions are bought through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and their terms apply to payment. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your Google Play or Apple account settings, and Premium continues until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Google or Apple under their policies. This doesn't affect your legal rights.
5. Accuracy
Runnerbean uses automated reading (AI) to read receipts. It's usually accurate, but it can make mistakes. Receipts that don't add up are marked for you to check. Prices, estimated totals, shop comparisons and price changes are estimates based on receipts from you and other Runnerbean shoppers. Actual prices in store may differ, and offers change. Please don't rely on Runnerbean for anything where accuracy is critical, such as tax returns or expense claims.
6. Your content
- You keep ownership of your receipts and anything you add. You allow us to store and process them to provide Runnerbean to you and your household.
- You also allow us to use prices from your receipts, combined anonymously with other households', to show typical prices and shop comparisons to other users. This never identifies you (see the privacy policy).
- Only scan receipts that are yours or your household's.
7. Fair use
Please don't misuse Runnerbean. That includes trying to access other people's data, getting round plan limits, copying or reselling the service or its price data, uploading anything unlawful or harmful, or interfering with how it works. We may suspend accounts that do.
8. The service
We work to keep Runnerbean available and secure, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or improve features. If we ever close Runnerbean, we'll give you reasonable notice and a chance to take your data with you.
9. Our responsibility to you
- We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
- We're not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for business losses (Runnerbean is for personal use), or for decisions you make based on estimated prices.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.
10. Ending
You can stop using Runnerbean and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account). Cancel any subscription separately in your app store account. We may end or suspend your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms; if we do, we'll tell you why where we can.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We'll tell you in the app about important changes before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings there.
